Acupuncture

Acupuncture is now widely accepted and recognised in the west for its effectiveness in treating a wide range of conditions.

It is a system of healing which has been practised in China and other Eastern countries for thousands of years.

Each person is treated as unique The principle aim is to treat the whole person, to recover the equilibrium between the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of that individual.

Acupuncturists who have completed a thorough training of at least 3 years in traditional acupuncture and western medical sciences are governed by the British Acupuncture Council.

For more information see British Acupuncture Council

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicines can be taken in conjunction with acupuncture or as a treatment in its own right.

Herbal prescriptions are tailor-made to suit the individual and can be taken as tea, powder, capsules, or tincture.

They can also be given to animals so long as you have veterinary permission.

Membership of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine demands high standards for admission and regulates the safe use of Chinese Herbs in Britain.

N.S.T. (advanced Bowen technique)

Neurostructural Integration Technique, a style of Bowen Therapy, is a soft tissue remedial therapy based on the later style of Tom Bowen, the Australian physical therapist who devoted many years of his life to intense clinical research and development of unique therapeutic techniques which can be used safely and effectively in the treatment of almost any health problem.

The technique involves the practitioner using fingers or thumbs to move over muscle, ligament, tendon and fascia on various points on the body.

Although each session varies according to presenting problems, the initial treatment will address the whole body. Treatment is subtle, relaxing and gentle and does not involve forceful manipulation.

NST can be done directly onto the skin or through thin clothing, a session normally lasts 30-45 mins. Most people respond in 2-3 sessions but chronic conditions may require further sessions.

See NST Health.

E.M.R.T. (Bowen on horses)

Lynda Sharp

This treatment involves the same principles as Bowen for humans but has been adapted for horses.

It is an extremely effective and gentle healing modality for a wide range of problems.

Veterinary permission is always requested prior to treatment.

It is particularly useful to treat both horse and rider as rider imbalance can be the cause of many of the problems horses' experience.

"I am a vet with a very old pony with osteoarthritis. Lynda Sharp has treated him with Equine Muscle Release Therapy to very good effect. She has a sympathetic and calm approach to animals and I have no hesitation in recommending her EMRT treatment."
